1. Tim Draper pushes bitcoin price estimate to $250,000 by 2025
Venture capitalist Tim Draper revised his bitcoin price prediction, extending the time frame for the cryptocurrency to reach $250,000 to June 2025. In an interview with the Observer, he underscored his conviction that if bitcoin does not reach $250k by then, it surely would before 2024 ends.
2. BlackRock Wants to Make It Cheaper to Trade Bitcoin, Larry Fink Says
BlackRock Inc. CEO Larry Fink called Bitcoin an “international asset” and said the money manager wants to use its heft to make it less expensive and easier to invest in the cryptocurrency. The money management giant filed paperwork last month to set up an exchange-traded fund that invests directly in Bitcoin, which prompted a flurry of similar applications from rival issuers and a rally in Bitcoin’s price to more than $30,000. Bitcoin rose more than 12% in June alone and is up more than 80% year-to-date.
3. Thailand Follows Singapore, Bans Crypto Exchanges From Offering Lending Services
Thailand is the second Southeast Asian country to announce a ban on crypto exchanges offering lending services today, as the country’s regulators put investor protection at the forefront of their crypto strategy.
The wording of the announcement makes clear that the ban applies to “depository services that offer returns to depositors and lenders,” thus outright banning exchanges from offering both lending and staking services.
